AGC Spreads Joy to Akron Seniors With BigHearted Blooms
Among Akron Garden Club’s recent grant recipients is BigHearted Blooms. The organization collects flowers and floral arrangements that normally would be thrown away after their intended purpose. With the help of volunteers, new bouquets are made with the recycled flowers and delivered to individuals in care facilities.
With AGC’s support, BigHearted Blooms extended its reach into Summit County with four deliveries to residents of Ohio Living Rockynol and Heritage Crossing in Akron.
BigHearted Blooms is a leader in the kindness and wellbeing movement in Northeastern Ohio. The nonprofit delivers joy, one recycled bouquet at a time, creating moments of personal connection through flowers and boosting the emotional health of those who are lonely, isolated, or facing difficult life challenges.
AGC’s 2026 class of new members is conducting a vase drive for BigHearted blooms, with the goal of donating 500 recycled containers, bottles, and jars.
AGC’s grant to BigHearted Blooms was one of nine recent grants to local organizations, with more than $37,000 invested in the greater Akron community in the past year.
